How We Met

Eric and I met through friends in 2011. A friend (and future bridesmaid), Jen Tamol, mentioned to me at work that I should meet her friend, Eric. I put it off at first but later on decided to go to trivia one night with Jen, her husband and some of their friends. I knew that I would be meeting Eric that night and didn't want to put too much pressure on the meeting. As I left the house that night, I said to my mom, "I'm going to meet some new people and Jen's friend, Eric. And anyway, no pressure tonight, it's not like I'm going to marry the guy!"

After a few more group meetings, Eric and I went on our first one-on-one date at J. Alexander's. It was a great night! After a few more dates, Eric called to invite me to his cousin's wedding. I knew that I would meet alot of his family at the wedding so I had to decide if I liked him enough for that. It was an easy decision. We had a fun time at the wedding and I quickly learned how wonderful his family is.

Since then, things have been awesome. We've been on countless trips to see family together, a cruise, ski trip, Dallas to see friends and Kentucky so he could meet more of my extended family. Every step from the beginning until now has been amazing and we can't wait to share many more experiences together.

Proposal

The proposal was a total surprise to me!

Eric and I went on a ski trip to Virginia with our friend (and groomsman) Mike in February 2013. We planned to spend 2 days skiing and the last day would be a lazy day at the cabin.

On our second day skiing, Eric and I spent most of our time on the beginner slope. I had mentioned to him earlier in the day that we should find a nice spot on the mountain to take a picture of the two of us with snow and trees in the background. We were headed down the mountain and Eric told me to come over to the middle so we could take our picture. Eric is always prepared and had the little camera tripod in his pocket. He set up the camera, set the timer and came over to stand next to me. Before he took the next picture, he suggested I take off my ski helmet. Not thinking anything about it, I said I was fine wearing my helmet but he insisted so I removed it. He set the camera again and we took another picture.

For the third picture, he sets the camera again. As he is walking back over to me, I'm telling him that the timer light isn't blinking but he assured me it was fine. He comes over to me and we smile at the camera ready to take the picture. Next thing I know, Eric is down on one knee and is asking me to marry him. I said yes right away and just couldn't believe it! Eric had the ring box but I was in shock and was still wearing my ski gloves. He asks me to take off my gloves so he can slip the ring on my finger. It was truly amazing and perfect! Afterwards, he revealed that the camera was actually recording video!

We're both so lucky to have found each other and can't wait to share our special day with all of our family and friends!
